SONG REVIEW: Promises Unsaid - "Mind Play"

Promises Unsaid brings a nice refresh to the metalcore scene with “Mind Play”

by Brandon Maynard

I don’t care what anyone says metalcore is on the rise and it’s been so nice to see! There have been so many different variations hitting the scene and I love every second of it. Which brings me to my point of this band Promises Unsaid, who have released a new single called, Mind Play

Within the first seconds of hitting play, your greatest with these old school hip hop type of horns. After those horns that hype you up you are met with the verse that is honestly new and refreshing in my book. The verse has a chili hip hop vibe and smooth vocals that will easily start making your head bop. As the verse goes on it starts picking up with more instrumentals and bringing in that metalcore sound. We then hit the chorus and this chorus is a straight banger. I honestly had to back the track up a bit just to get that chorus one more time. This song really excites me for the future of metalcore. Seeing all these bands adding new influences and different styles to the genre has been amazing!

Promises Unsaid is a metalcore band hailing out of Binghamton, New York. The band prides themselves on their songs sounding straight from the heart strings covering many different problems such as anxiety, depression, self hatred and other difficulties we find it hard to talk about. The band has released a full length album, and an EP with some amazing singles out now that I would 100% recommend to check out!

To summarize everything up, Promises Unsaid is a nice refresh to the metalcore scene. Like I said, metalcore is starting to grow more and more popular with a whole new generation and bands like promises unsaid give a nice new twist that draws out a whole new audience.
