SONG REVIEW: Huranova - "Somebody Told Me (The Killers Cover)"

Huranova puts their own twist on The Killer’s hit song, “Somebody Told Me”

by Brandon Maynard

It seems covers have been a pretty popular thing to do lately within the rock/metal community. It’s been nice seeing bands pay tribute to the songs we’ve all loved and cherished. Which leads me to a cover that honestly blew me out of the water. Huranova’s cover of The Killer’s hit song, Somebody Told Me

I’m not gonna lie, I didn't know what to expect when this song was presented to me. Was the band gonna reimagine it, were they gonna stick to the original or were they gonna add their own twist to it? And somehow to me it seems that huranova managed to do all three. When you first turn on the song you're greeted with a nice and heavy intro which leads you to a beyond powerful female lead vocal that sealed the deal for me. As the song continues you're met with a very powerful chorus. I would sing that chorus as loud as I could regularly but this cover has now made it to where I have no voice from trying to rock out with them. The instrumentals I in this cover are absolutely great. 10/10 would not change anything about them. They are heavy and chuggy and just give me that metal bliss I need.  I love how the band took a song we love and turned it so heavy and new but managed to keep the familiarity of the song that we originally fell in love with.

Huranova is a 4 piece Italian band founded in 2017. Since 2018 when the band released their first single “ Go With The Devil.” Huranova has been fine tuning and shaping the sound that they have today. The band is currently in the process of writing their second full length album which is currently on our radar. They also plans on hitting the road soon and getting back to touring when the world starts calming down.

To summarize everything up huranova did An amazing job of taking an iconic song and making it their own. I highly suggest everyone to give this cover a chance. I promise you this cover will make it into your daily listener playlist.
