Eternal Frequency aggressively blends genres with “Parasite”

If you haven’t yet heard of Eternal Frequency, you will. The 5-piece rock group hailing from Pennsylvania recently unveiled their new single “Parasite”, in which they brought the best elements of heavier alternative metal and contemporary rock classics for one well-rounded larger-than-life sound that’s sure to captivate audiences.

The video opens with a young woman entering an elevator while being stalked by a hooded figure, the proverbial “parasite” in both the song and video. The song opens with a brief intro before a glitchy slam into the first verse. The vocalist, Emelle, quickly displays her range and skill as a metal vocalist with a blend of angelic cleans and jarring screams. Her note choice is impeccable while delivering the hook-laden chorus and relatable message of the song. 

A clean break after the second verse builds awesome tension into the second chorus as the group performs in a room illuminated by neon lighting. A technical (and dare I say... djenty) breakdown slams into the listener’s eardrums followed by a blistering, soulful guitar solo. The song rounds out with one more addictive chorus and outro riff complemented by visuals that perfectly match the mood and message of the song.

Parasite is a song that makes a solid addition to any playlist, whether it be for working out or a casual headbang. The group displays mature songwriting while not being afraid to dip into their alternative influences, making for a sound that you’ll find yourself coming back to time and again. Their sound is easily translatable to the largest stages in the genre, and it’s not hard to imagine them gracing stadiums before too long. If you haven’t heard of Eternal Frequency, you will.
