SONG REVIEW: Painted Young - "Sunset"

Pop Punk band, Painted Young brings in a breathe of fresh air to the music scene with their latest single, Sunset!

by Brandon Maynard

You know that feeling when you hear a new song and you instantly know it’s gonna be on repeat or constantly in your search? Not only is it new and exciting but it also has a familiarity that gives you that nostalgic vibe that brings you back to the time when things were simpler. Well that’s what band, Painted Young did with their song, Sunset off the bands latest EP entitled, “The Smallest Similarities”.

Within the first couple seconds of Painted Young’s new song “Sunset” you’re instantly greeted with a beautiful acoustic intro that honestly hyped me up to see what was coming next. I have always believed if the intro is good the rest of the song is going to be good. After that beautiful intro the song picks up a bit and then you're greeted with the vocals sung by “Chris Santos” which honestly couldn’t have been any better. The blend of his voice with the instrumentals that are new and modern but still have that familiarity honestly pair so nicely together. As you continue on this journey of pop rock/pop punk bliss your hit with a banger of a chorus that’s gonna be stuck in your head all day. As the song goes on it slows down for a second then picks back up and you meet with that catchy chorus again. When the song ends I promise you’ll be sad that it ended but delighted to find out that’s what they make replay buttons for.

Painted Young is a 3 piece pop rock/pop punk trio hailing out of New Jersey. The band has 2 full albums under their belts and the newest edition to be added is their latest E.p entitled “The Smallest Similarities” which features the song, Sunset that I talk about above. These guys are definitely making some waves and I’m excited to hear what they release next.

To summarize everything up “Painted Young’s” latest song “Sunset” is definitely a song that should be added to everyone’s playlist and become a daily listener. It’s that type of song that just gives you that feel good vibe that we all love.
