“Aussie Band, Danger Den Brings the Feel Good Pop Punk with their new single!”

by Jesse James Smith

I’m going to start off by asking the question everyone has, why are Australians so good at music? If you’ve been in the scene for more than a year you have also probably experienced this sentence/realization… “Omg this sounds so good! I wonder where they’re fr.. oh, Australia”. With this being said, I went to go check out the band Danger Den and their new song “New Year’s Eve”. I read some of their influences and was stoked to see what they got! I went into this head first with no prior knowledge of the band or they’re songs. About half way through I could hear myself humming along to the chorus so I knew they had something catchy and memorable. Doing more research about the band and wouldn’t you know, Australian, Figures.

Like I said, the chorus is so catchy, infectious some would say, so it was a power move to kick off the song with it. It really set the tone and as the song truly kicked in I was hooked. I would classify this as the ‘Feel Good’ pop punk, almost that early skater upbeat pop punk. Wearing influences like Blink 182 on their sleeve, the song starts very fast and energetic. The singer's  voice is pop punk perfection, having a slight accent which is a staple pop punk trope, but his wasn’t over the top and truly felt genuine. After the 3rd or 4th chorus, they turned it up in a direction I was not expecting. Switching on the easycore button and channeling their inner Chunk, No Captain Chunk!, They throw a  nice breakdown in the mix!  Not only that, the guitarist breaks into a guitar solo! How many pop punk songs truly can you name that have a full on guitar solo!

Overall I really wonder why they aren't talked about more, but that is going to change! Danger Den gets an A+ from me and is truly an act to watch out for. They are fun and entertaining which are great attributes to have. They have a previous new single called “Merch Guy Mike’s Favorite Song” which gives you a look into the vibe this band brings. I’m super stoked to see what this band can do moving into 2025, I think if they really put themselves out there more and remain active, they could get a lot of fans.
