GKE EXCLUSIVE: HAUNTER - “Lascivious Stimulation“
Written by Jesse James Smith
Haunter is no stranger to GKE, and the spooky boys are back with another graveyard smash! If you haven’t heard of Haunter, They are a band from Wisconsin that mixes all the genres within the dark and gothic subcultures. From Dark Pop to Metal, these guys have a unique blend of genre bending songs that can’t really be pinpointed and put in a box. We have been talking about this band for a few years and now the ghouls are back with a bop! ‘Lascivious Stimulation’ is the newest single from the band and it teeters between Pop and Rock in a well balanced track that can be introduced to either side of the musical spectrum.
The song feels very epic in the way as if it should be a movie score. That’s one thing that I love about Haunter is that the songs are anthems, they have a large feeling and are very powerful. This song is a longer one coming in at a little over 4 minutes so buckle up. The beginning starts off with the textbook spooky synth sound, you know, the one that sounds like that spooky toy every horror movie character finds in their basement. But as the song really kicks in, they have a new Manson vibe. It’s not aggressive or in your face, more like atmospheric and in the shadows. Personally, I really like this sound because it sets up the song so it really can go in different directions. For the chorus they kick it up a bit and adds some rock influences. This part resembles the softer side of Motionless In White. Intertwined within the song they have a multitude of different genres they cross. This song is an interesting listen that keeps your attention from start to end.
Haunter is a staple in the Wisconsin Goth scene. They have been absolutely killing it the last couple of years and the band continues to grow both in their local scene and the goth community in general. Every time they release new music, they get better and better and more polished as time goes on. I’m extremely excited to see what 2025 has in store for them.
