EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Siddy Valentine - “pain”

Written by Jesse James Smith

When it comes to pop punk in 2024, Siddy Valentine puts the punk in pop punk. Siddy started his solo music career in 2021 with the release of his lead off single ‘Like A Hurricane” and hasn’t looked back. Earlier this year he started fresh on  his socials and is beginning a new chapter. Last week he dropped his new track titled “pain” which embodies the punk spirit and really gave me a throwback vibe!

With this song just clearing 2:30 in length, Siddy gets right to the point from the start. The more and more music I listen to the  more I’m starting to appreciate the shorter song lengths that are action packed. Standing out from the 2024 pop punk, Siddy takes it back with influences from bands like Sum 41, Good Charlotte, and Green Day with the intensity and the melody choices. His vocal attack and melody patterns come off pretty hard and straight forward which reminds me a lot of the punk spirit  that Sum 41 embodied. The  song structure itself again leans into that early pop punk where the punk influences were more prevalent. In today’s music, something like this will stand out of the crowd as everything is leaning more and more in the ‘Pop’ music space. True pop punk fans will appreciate the approach and execution of this song!

This release also was accompanied by a music video that you can check out now! And just like the song, it’s moody, dark, and straight forward. As a lover of all pop punk, it is awesome to see that the punk spirit is not fully lost within the genre. Artists like Siddy Valentine are the one’s keeping that spirit and sound alive. It’s one thing to act like you live it, and another to live it, and Siddy proves he lives it within ‘pain’.
