ARTIST INTERVIEW: "RILEY"

Hey RILEY! Thanks for taking the time to do this interview! First off, you just released a brand new album City Of Angels!! How does it feel to finally have it out for everyone to hear? How has the response been?

YO! Thank you for having me! It feels so good to have a new project out, if you can tell I love putting out bodies of work so people can feel the emotional ride through it so I’m glad people get to hear it finally I’ve been sitting on so many of these songs for so long now.

You’re obviously proud of being from LA, how did you come up with the title “Loss Angeles”? I thought that was super clever.

When I made LOSS ANGELES. It was a dark time in my life so that was a play on words for the city that gave me everything but also took so much from my life.

Your song writing is impeccable, where do you get your inspiration from when it comes to writing a RILEY song?

THANK YOUUUU! I try to be brutally honest, some times I write from personal experience sometimes from what’s moving around my life but I found when I write or create it has to move me and if it doesn’t the song never sees the light of day.

Congratulations on being a new dad! How have you been juggling being a new father and being an artist?

We are so lucky to have our daughter Scarlett, honestly without Hannah I wouldn’t be able to do any of this she keeps me motivated and helps our fam with scar and gives me the time to create and still get the things done I need to for work, I don’t know where I’d be if it wasn’t for those two. The keep me grounded.

Having a very distinct look, do you ever find yourself being stereotyped for how you look either in the industry or in everyday living? If so, how do you handle that?

Hahaha ya I grew up in hardcore so I’ve always looked how I looked. What I’ve noticed as I’ve grown older it keeps the people away who I don’t need close to me.

And i love the shock factor of when people see me play shows and they go “I would have never expected that on just seeing you” the never judge a book by its cover saying goes a long way with me.

You have worked with some amazing artist, who has been your favorite person to collab with? Is there anyone you haven’t that you want to?

it’s crazy since the jump it’s been me being able to work with all my friends so it’s never felt weird or anything besides natural. I’m very grateful for everyone who has been a part of my journey, it’s really made me grow as an artist and song writer. That one person I want to work with is NAV. I’m a huge nav fan and have been since the jump so hopefully I can make that happen soon.

Now for some fun questions, What is your favorite spot to hangout in LA?

I took myself out of the club a while ago hahaha but my boy Keith Wilson always throw good parties in Hollywood if you’re on the boulevard hit dirty laundry or anything on that block. You know I love a good warwick night as well. My favorite is staying at the Roosevelt I always get the same corner room upstairs over looking the pool so that’s a vibe.

If you could listen to only one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The Dream - Love vs. Money

Your putting together your dream show, where are you preforming and what other 3 artists are on the show with you?

I love this question. I’m going the beach of Lima peru

Artist on it would be The Cure The 1975 & Dr. Dre 2001 chronic era with all the guests

Thanks so much for your time again! Before we go, is there anything you’d like to plug?
