SONG REVIEW: Aeganova - “Lucidity”

by Jesse James Smith

Texas is known for being larger than life, everything is bigger in Texas they say. This saying has also been true when it comes to their music scene and the quality of bands who come out of there. There is a local band from Central Texas that I believe deserves way more love and they’re new single is the prime example why. Aeganova (age-uh-nova) came on to the texas music scene in 2022 and since then has consistently been releasing music. Their new single is titled “lucidity” and if you’re a hard rock lover you for sure want to listen up!

From deep and poetic lyrics to top tier musicianship, this song has it all. The first minute of the song is slow and soulful with it only being light guitar and beautiful vocals. You can tell in the delivery of the words she speaks that it is meaningful not only to the listener but for the band. The song kicks into a more rock ballad around a minute but the overall tone is melancholy and deep. The thing that first made my eyebrows raise was the dual vocals in the song and how great they both sound together. Having the dynamic of female and male vocals adds a new perspective and emotion. Speaking of perspective, This song seems to be from 2 different perspectives. Someone who passed away and someone who was left here living.

The vibe and overall tone remind me of ‘My Immortal’ by Evanescence and I LOVE that song. The mix between being a slow ballad and a rock song keeps it interesting and you get caught up in the pain and sorrow that both vocalists are singing about. This is a truly incredible track and a perfect example of why you should listen to this band. Like I said, Texas is known for being big and this song is HUGE!
