SONG REVIEW: Glory Days - “Clocks”

Written by Jesse James Smith

Glory Days started in 2016 and has been growing consistently both musically and in popularity ever since. With consistent music releases, some reaching well over 100k streams, as well as being on the move and spreading their metaphorical wings all around the midwest & and east coast of the USA. Glory Days evolved into a healthy balance of old school, feel good pop punk and mainstream rock music that has set them apart from the pack. Not fitting neatly into the genre boxes caught my attention and when I did some digging, I saw why this band is doing so well! The band is back with another single, and it really hits the heartstrings when you read the lyrics but it also makes for a great morning ride bop!

Clocks is a song about love lost and having to go on living day to day. Usually the sad songs we listen to hyperfocus on the pain and the loss part and even though in life that is the main source of pain, for me, the hardest part is the living on and doing what you do everyday despite the loss. The opening lyrics “Wake up in the morning around 3:30, Got to get to work but it feels so early. Wake up in the car and I want you here with me” is just so relatable to most of us. Meanwhile, the music is upbeat and energetic. They have a style that is familiar, I would say somewhere around Jimmy Eat World, but it's unique which kept my attention the whole time. The chorus of this song is simple but effective. Lyrics that are easy to remember and sing along with while also feeling, the perfect mix.

This song also features a music video which I highly recommend watching at least once. It captures the vibe really well and puts visuals to the lyrics. Glory Days are really a band to watch moving into the thick of 2025. They are the textbook definition of a band that is bound to catch a break. I really enjoy them and I can’t wait to see how far they go this year!
