SINGLE REVIEW: Acaedia - "Vyrus"
Written By: Jasmine C. Jones
Miami-based Acaedia (uh-SEE-dee-uh) is delivering a unique brand of metal core laced with powerful social messages. The band’s name is a variation of the word “acedia”, describing a sense of apathy or lack of concern with one’s position on moral issues. Acaedia is made up of Ray Jimenez (lead vocals), Javier Sardinas (guitar), Christian Farina (bass) and Michael Collantes (drums).
The band has had huge success over the years with 22K likes on Facebook and 9K monthly listeners on Spotify. Their first single “Vanish” put the on the map quickly following their first album “Dawning”.
As we are going through a rough time, not just in our nation, but around the world. Acaedia wanted to remind their listeners that it shouldn’t take a global disaster to bring us together. “Vyrus” reminds us that hate is just as contagious and destructive as this invisible enemy we’ve come to know as COVID19. In good and bad times we must strive to work together to pave a better future for all.
The song features heavy guitar riffs, a catchy chorus, and a sick breakdown. This song keeps us coming back for more. The cleans in the chorus brings the song into full circle. It features a guitar solo that so sick you have to keep rewinding to hear more. We would definitely add this to our workout playlist!
