SONG REVIEW: Roxana Line - "Among The Dead"

Roxana Line brings life with emo-musical track for her song, Among The Dead!

by JESSE SMITH

Instead of making Disney musical songs into kick ass emo tracks, a one woman band from LA has seamlessly perfected the blend of emo, musicals, and rock to create her own original story telling. Roxana Line’s new single “Among The Dead” is the next chapter to her original musical horror story about a widow who slips away into insanity after the disappearance of her husband.

Roxana’s powerful voice is reminiscent of the power Floor Jansen of Nightwish has which gives that musical aspect of loud, projected singing that makes you really visualize the story with every word. We start the song immediately dark and with a driving swing that sets the 19th century tone. The chorus is sung in a call-response style between Roxana and Sean Green of Everchange.

The male addition to the chorus was a perfect touch in building the story and really gives you a “Sweeny Todd” vibe which personally, I love! The further you go into this track, the more it builds and builds to a climactic ending leaving you speechless and wanting to hear the next part of her story or even wondering if there will be a next part!

The song is accompanied with a performance video which also has that dark 19th century feel. It has had a great fan response so far and continues to grow on youtube. The song is also available on Spotify and other streaming platforms. I highly suggest you keep Roxana Line on your radar. She is exciting and unexpected, continuing to push her boundaries and creating original art that is more than just songs.
