SONG REVIEW: Raviner - "Mania"

by Brandon Maynard

I love when a band classifies themselves as alt-metal. I think it’s a very smart move into today's music industry. If you say your metal, metalcore, and even like deathcore and you slightly change up a bit it tends to cause an uproar sometimes. I feel like it’s a very smart idea to consider yourself alt metal and have the creative freedom to experiment with other sounds and heaviness/lightness it can help reach a larger audience. When I was asked to review alt-metal group  raviner’s new single mania I got pretty excited for this. These guys are from my old stomping grounds in Nashville. I’ve always  heard of them but haven't ever  gotten a chance to check them out yet but let me tell you something I am so glad I was asked to review this amazing band! Raviner’s new single Mania is definitely a song worth checking out!

Within the first couple seconds of raviner’s new single mania you're met with a very beautiful melodic guitar instrumental with some great post production under it. After that beautiful intro the song really starts kicking off. It goes from a beautiful soft elegant sound to right in your face with  catchy riffs and heavy drums. Just from those few seconds alone I was already hooked. I knew this song was easily going to be a daily listener for me. After that great catchy intro you’re met with the verse. The verse honesty is great, it slows down at first then you're met with a great voice from the female front “Kamber Kigin”. After the verse slows down it starts picking up again with the drums in the background bringing the song back up to pace. As I’ve said time and time again I love a big sounding chorus and let me tell ya this chorus is big and sounds great! The instrumentals are perfect to me, they're big and catchy and the vocals really just amplify it to the next level.  As the song goes on the verse is more picked up and the chorus gets stuck in your head some more and your met with a great instrumental section just making this song even more great to listen to!

Hailing from Nashville, TN, Raviner is an alt-metal band that intertwines elements of dark pop and cinematic rock to curate their distinctive sound. The band was formed in late 2015, emerging out of founder Kamber Kigin’s desire to create a separate band from her solo singer-songwriter work. After a hiatus in 2019, the band experienced a breath of new life. In late 2020 Christian Nicks, Jordan Armstrong, and Joshua Maher joined the band and have continued to create the singular brand of visceral, cathartic rock Raviner is known for.
