SONG REVIEW: Patient Sixty-Seven - "No Place (Feat. Aaron Gillespie of Underoath)"
Patient Sixty-Seven Brings The Bang with Aaron Gillespie on their latest single, “No Place“

Patient Sixty-Seven is back at it again, but let’s be honest.. Do they ever miss? The Australian Metalcore powerhouses are back with a bang in their newest single “No Place”. If you haven’t heard of this band before, here is a brief backstory. They really started to pop off around 2018 with their song “idgaf” that has now reached over 3M streams on spotify alone. Even though they were starting to gain traction in 2018, I view them as one of the bands that truly thrived during the pandemic and out of the pandemic being consistent with releasing multiple bangers such as 2021’s hit “Antithesis” which featured Rory from Dayseeker. SInce then, they have been building a huge buzz not only in Aus, but here in the USA so much that they are a pretty hot commodity and were supposed to make their debut at what is now the infamous Blue Ridge Rock Festival last year. It’s now 2024 and if you think the band is slowing down, you’d be wrong.
“No Place” is one for the heavy hitters and brings the bang from the first second. The quick opening drum fill sets that fast jumpy tempo and the riff that follows solidifies that this, indeed, is about to be a banger. The first thing that jumped at me was the initial guitar tone. Heavy and tight.. Digital but not over produced. It’s clear and crisp even in the lower notes which makes it easy to digest and even easier to get into. There is no doubt that this song is heavy and aggressive, but the chorus brings in a whole new vibe. In traditional metalcore fashion, the chorus is very “pop” based with a lighter vibe.
The dichotomy between the verses and the chorus I believe is what keeps this song interesting. Both being really well written for what they are, blended together nicely. The outlier of these sections is the feature by one of the scene’s most influential people, Aaron Gillespie. His vocal feature is very atmospheric and emo, which fits PERFECTLY. It highlights his part in a way of making it different and not just making his part sound big. It’s mysterious, it makes you want to listen closer.
Truly, this band does not miss. This song is a certified banger and I can see why in 2024 this band is still on the rise. If we have to list off underrated bands, I feel they would be at the top, but in my opinion the minute they come over to the USA, it is game over. I can’t wait to see what they do next, but if this band has proved anything, I won’t have to wait long. What a great song!
