SONG REVIEW: Ghost In Stereo - "Redemption Ark"

“Ghost In Stereo bursts onto the scene with hot debut single”

by Jesse Smith

Coming out of the mile high city is a fresh face on the metalcore music scene called Ghost In Stereo. Like most bands, the members are members from local bands around the area that decided to come together and form something new and fresh from the ground up. “Redemption Ark” is the debut single for the band and if you’ve been a metalcore fan for a while I am 100% sure you will love it! As a band trying to make a name for yourselves and establish an identity it is always good to put a solid foot forward as you release your art into the relentless world of the scene, and Ghost In Stereo did the job and did it well!

Starting off the song is guitarist, Kevin Scott laying down what will be the main riff that the song is going to be based off of before drummer, Marcus McGowan bursts in and kicks the song up to 11. The song has a really good groove to start off and keeps the head bobbing. The main highlight for me is the drumming in the first verse of the song, Marcus really controls the tempo and the feel of the song kicking it off and he goes absolutely god mode. After the intro/verse, the band shifts into a syncopated rhythmic groove pattern that everyone in the band is tight and in sync including the vocals. This part is where I really started to bop my head with the band. During the second verse, there is a double drop which I wasn’t expecting that in my opinion is the peak of the song. The half timed verse into a breakdown was a nice touch and broke the song up in a natural way that made a lot of sense. Throughout the whole song you can feel the emotion behind each instrument and really draws you in to keep listening.

This release also includes a music video that is mostly a performance video so you can really get the full sense of the song. As the first release goes, this is not bad at all! I can see the track the band has gotten on and it’s a blend of all the different styles of Metalcore through the years. From the catchy fast riffs to the slower chorus that was made for a sing along to even the breakdown, everything hit all the checkpoints. If you’re in the Denver area I would keep a look out for Ghost In Stereo playing near you. I’m excited to see what they have for us next.
