End In Sight explore both sides of emo music in “Spiders”

Written by JD Walker

Emo music as a whole tends to have the element of instant familiarity - if the song is good, you’ll have the feeling that you’re listening to a classic even if you’ve never heard the song. End In Sight certainly have that element working in their favor in their latest single “Spiders”, a song that blends some of the tonal elements of emo music with the more upbeat and driving aspects of pop punk for one well rounded song.

“Spiders” begins almost as a soft rock song might, opening with an acoustic guitar passage before quickly kicking into a classic pop punk verse. The song combines many characteristics of the golden era of pop punk pioneered by the likes of Blink-182 and Sum 41, though the vocal delivery is closer to that of an old school emo tune. The song does a great job of staying straight forward and never losing sight of what the ultimate goal was, which was to be a simple, catchy, and fun tune. This goes to show just how crucial the skill set of songwriting can be, as you don’t need to be overly fancy to write a hit.

End In Sight are no strangers to music industry and have seen a meteoric rise through their young career. Founded in 2019 by Brandon Dillon and Marty Evans, the Manchester duo have already been featured on both BBC Introducing as well as Alternative Press. The Manchester group are riding the success of their two previous singles, “Lifeline” and “Blossom”, into the release of their forthcoming EP. End In Sight seem to constantly explore new sounds to incorporate into their style, as they took an alternative approach in “Spiders” and even aim to incorporate trap influence in a forthcoming single.

End In Sight have seen early success in the dawning stages of the band, and for good reason. This group knows how to write songs. Instead of getting caught up on the individual sections or instruments, End In Sight understand that a song can be greater than the sun of its parts and it shows. While certain aspects of “Spiders” without a doubt showcases their musicianship, it never got over the top and stayed right in the pocket. End In Sight should have a long and wildly successful career following this formula, and the best part is that they’re only getting started.
