SONG REVIEW: Dovecage - "Divided Minds"

“Dovecage brings the heat with new single Divided Minds”

by Jesse Smith

Music is constantly evolving and revisiting and then evolving again. For the people who love rock music but just can’t get into the new wave that incorporates a hefty amount of electronic elements, I have the perfect up and coming band for you. Not only do they have the rock and roll vibe, their music kicks ass! Based out of Charlotte NC, Dovecage is a hard rock band that keeps the spirit of rock alive while also making you want to dance. Only coming onto the scene last year, this band has hit the ground running, consistently releasing bangers! Today though, we are focusing on their newest release titled “Divided Minds”. This is the 4th song they have already released in 2023 which means they are full steam ahead, and Divided Minds sent them to a new height.

The song rips in with no time to waste, leading in with a heavy and hard guitar riff  that sets the tone for the rest of the song. As the verse kicks in, where you would expect it to slow into something electronic based, they decided to let the bassist have his moment! Took me completely off guard, but bassist Tim Johnson really showed why bassist should be taken seriously! Vocalist Kiara Carol is the other star of this song. The construction of melodies and her delivery really takes this song to new levels. Fueled with emotion and talent, each chorus hits harder than the last. This is also the case with their past songs as well, the passion poured into each song is undeniable and for them being such a fresh face it is refreshing to see. As I got to my 3rd and 4th listen I realized I was hooked and now this song is on my most played playlist and there it will sit.

For any hard rock lover that are fans of bands like Shinedown and Pop Evil this is right up your alley. Dovecage has something going, and to already be sonically this good is incredible. From what I know this is a relatively young band as well, so they have a long career ahead of them and I think judging by just the sound they have what it takes to go to the next level. If you are feeling adventurous, do what I did and add them to your rock playlist and watch you instantly become a fan like we here at GKE did.
