SONG REVIEW: brx - EVERYTHING

“Pop Punk emotion with a Punk vibe!”

by Jesse Smith

We may not be in Kansas anymore Toto, but this solo punk artist is! Brx (pronounced Brooks) is an up and coming artist that is mixing pop punk hooks with good old fashioned punk vibes! Striking inspiration from bands like MXPX and Mest, Brx has in your face music with heartfelt and throughout lyrics. Consistently releasing music since 2022, today we are zoning in on his single from late 2023 “Everything”.

Like most pop punk songs, this song is about a sour relationship coming to an end, but this is delivered more in your face instead of hiding behind poetic lyrics. With lyrics like “Girl, we better split up before we hurt ourselves. Cause if we don’t we’ll end up trapped in a private hell”. While this was excellently worded, it was to the point and easily digestible. The grit of the lyrics are also matched with the grit of his voice which was super unique and stood out! It added that raw emotion and punk vibe to the song even more. This song is also accompanied by a music video that depicts the always fighting couple that in the end makes up and walks off together. A relatable song needs a relatable visual and I think it  was executed perfectly.

If you’re a fan of the close crossover between punk and pop punk, than you will enjoy Brx! Even though we covered this song, he is still consistently releasing music and already has a new song out called “Missing” that is a little more up-tempo! Supporting up and coming artists is so important, and you never know who’ll you’ll discover before they make it big!
