ON THIS DAY: 10 Year Anniversary of Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.) dropped their self titled album
“Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows” (D.R.U.G.S.) self titled album came out 10 years ago today, feel old yet?
When I read that this album turned 10 years ago, it honestly hit me like a train how long it has been since this album graced us with it’s fresh take on Post-Hardcore music in the early 2010’s. Who remembers when this super group first got together? In case you didn’t know who Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows or aka DRUGS, is a super group which includes the likes of vocalist Craig Owens (Chiodos), drummer Aaron Stern (Matchbook Romance), guitarist/vocalist Nick Martin (Underminded), guitarist/vocalist Matt Good (From First to Last), and bassist Adam Russell (Story of the Year). The band was formed between the years 2009/2010.
They first came onto the scene back in the November of 2010. The super group promoted their singles over the next few months such as “If You Think This Song Is About You”, “Mr. Owl Ate My Metal Worm”, and “Sex Life” to help with the upcoming release for their debut album. They also had a fourth single for those who had pre-ordered the album, which was “My Swagger Has A First Name.” Many praised these singles with how well-crafted they were written with a ballad of vocals on many of the songs, .
A fun fact of one of the songs on the album, “Stop Reading, Start Doing Pushups” was actually included in in the soundtrack of a video game called “Lollipop Chainsaw” which had a lot of other artist such as Skrillex, Five Finger Death Punch, Children of Bodom, and many more. Another fun fact of one of the other songs on the album, “The Only Thing You Talk About” was actually a song originally written for Chiodos called Thermacare which was re-written and mixed/mastered for the album.
The self titled album was also produced by John Feldmann who has worked on on many different albums from many artist such as The Used, Atreyu, Escape The Fate, Panic! At The Disco, and many more! They had released two music videos for this album which were for two of the singles, "If You Think This Song Is About You, It Probably Is," and "Sex Life", as well, which included the band performing as well bringing fans onto it. Album had also sold over 14,000+ copies or the album within the first week and charted No. 1 on the Billboard’s Hard Rock list.
I bet you’re wondering what is going on with the band right now? They actually ended up taking a small hiatus but came out with a brand new song, “King I Am” in early 2020, and less then a month ago announced they had signed to Velocity Records which houses other amazing artist such as Scary Kids Scarying Kids, Secrets, Eve 6, and many more! They also have announced a nee album is in the works for 2021, but not sure when. So make sure to keep an eye on their socials to see when they will be dropping brand new music this upcoming year!
